Star with planet candidate circled, Nasa/Pennsylvania State University
The picture was taken with Hubble's infrared Nicmos camera

The historic first image of a planet circling another star may have been taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.

The "planet", 5-10 times the mass of Jupiter, is orbiting a small white dwarf star about 100 light-years away.

Astronomers are being cautious, saying they require more data to be sure it really is a planet and not a background object caught in the same field of view.

Confirmation will come if follow-up observations can show the planet and the star moving together through space.

Over the past 10 years, scientists have discovered more than 120 so-called exoplanets. However, all have been found by indirect methods - none was photographed directly.

Photo New Device Allows Recording at Concerts
AP - Thu Apr 29, 8:36 AM ET
Oh, how far we've come from the 78, the 45, even the CD. Now, minutes after your favorite band sounds its last note on stage, you can load a live recording of the concert onto a cigarette-lighter-sized hard drive hanging off your keychain.

Right then, we're back...

Journal blog thingy here.

Research/newsfeed here:

Off we go again...

some analysts say U.S. intelligence and law enforcement officials might be starting to track blogs for important bits of information. This interest is a sign of how far Web media such as blogs have come in reshaping the data-collection habits of intelligence professionals and others, even with the knowledge that the accuracy of what's reported in some blogs is questionable.

There are a handful of you out there that read this...or at least subscibe to it- and I wanted to say thank you! But I've got some bad news too- I'm sliding over to Livejournal... I'm not sure what's promoting the venue change, but it's something that I feel the need to do. I've had the desire in recent weeks to start writing more on a personal and honest level. For one reason or another, I feel unright in doing so here...So, for those who wish to keep up with me you can now find me at:

I promise I'll still be posting all the random news snippits and intresting little internet  tid-bits that I run across...but I'll also be spending more wordspace babbling about my daily occurances.

I hope to see you there.

I love you all. Happy Valentines day, and goodnight.
